2008 Inductee - "Lucky" Ron Burke

Ronald Kenneth Burke is a unique individual. Born in 1955, he bought his first guitar at age 13 with money he earned working at the Ottawa Ex, and he played his first paying gig the next year. For many years, he paid his dues in the music business, playing continuously throughout the Ottawa Valley and, in 1986, he adopted the stage name, "Lucky Ron"

Lucky Ron’s repertoire consists of strictly early country artists, his favourites being the hurting classics of the 40's and 50's that were the signatures of Hank Williams Sr., Faron Young and Charlie Louvin, as well as the songs of Johnny Cash and Stompin’ Tom Connors. What makes him truly unique is that, in 22 years, his show has never varied. The first four songs of his line-up as well as his encore are always the same. In between, he takes a steady stream of requests from his large and loyal group of fans who have followed him from place to place for years. For the last 10 years, this place has been the Chateau Lafayette and this group - who consider themselves a community - consists of people with a wide range of backgrounds, education and income levels.

A 2003 study by Kimberley Cavanagh stated Something about Lucky Ron draws (people) back week after week and year after year...it is more than just the songs.... Lucky Ron - just a man and his guitar - is a true phenomenon.
